Introducing Amanda Baldwin | Design Team 2014

Hi, I am Amanda-Jayne Baldwin(Amanda, or AJ), & I am absolutely
delighted to be joining the Couture Creations Design Team.
I began scrapbooking only 4 years ago, and as such am relatively 'new' to the
scene, despite being a self-taught artist for many years. My artistic
style really reflects my personality and is a creative expression of
fun, colour and happiness! I love 'clean', fresh and vibrant pieces but
am also a fan of all things vintage and girly.... Ok, so I'm a Gemini,
the split personality star sign... so you'll see either edgy pop
colour or beautiful romantic swoon-over creations from me. I love that
unpredictability! Creativity excites me, and I hope that my designs
inspire you all!
I am a wife to an amazing & wonderful man, mother to two incredibly
adorable children (Miss M: 8yrs going on 12, and Master A: just 19
months old & already hilarious), Montessori Early Years Educator and
Children's Art Educator for Little Picassos. I am a very passionate
teacher, and love every minute of it!
I love being able to share my passion with you all, so please be sure
to leave me a comment or two with what you liked or would like to see
more of. Thanks and happy scrapping to you all!

Onto Amanda's first project

Hi Everyone Amanda here & I must say I'm a little excited to be sharing my very first Couture Creations Design Team project with you!
As you may already know, my style varies from either:

 girly & romantic......

 to modern, vibrant and edgy!

So, I thought I'd give you a sample of both styles today and see what you like best!

Here are two layouts I created using the
Couture Creations Madeline Ornamental Lace Die: French Frame.
Up first, my girly and romantic version.....

Aaah, soooo pretty!
This layout also features the Sophia Intricutz Die: Marant (which is in limited quantities, so get it while you still can!)

Now here's a modern, chalkboard inspired version of the same layout.......

This is my favourite!
Isn't it amazing how a different colour palette and a few changes in embellishments can give you a totally new look?
It also displays how versatile the Couture Creations products are!
Which one do you prefer?

For today's tutorial, I'm selecting the second layout to share, enjoy!

Here's how you re-create this layout:

1. Using pastel blue cardstock, cut the French Frame and edge with blackened sponge dauber.

 2. Trim the Damask Delight papers:
Stripes print is 12inch x 4inch, chevron is 12inch x 2inch & tape into position. Tear up some newsprint/ephemera paper & ink edges with blackened sponge dauber.

 3. Use a chevron template
& your sanding block to create faux chalk marks.
Distress all edges, and sand back the cardstock to reveal more of the "chalk" look.

 4. Tear cardstock (as shown above)
& back the torn spaces with the Damask Delight chevron print.

5. Attach newsprint, and jute twine.

6. Attach muslin, photo &
French Frame.
Tip: I distressed my photo
& glued at an angle to enhance the look.

7. Embellish with coordinating flowers, journal words, pearls
& gemstones.
Tip: I used an old chipboard alpha template & scissors to gently scrape out my daughter's initial to get a neat finish.
Wow!
A really simple, but effective layout for you to try at home.

Hope you enjoyed!
Please leave a comment on which layout you preferred, I'd love to know!
