Valentines Canvas by Alicia Redshaw

Hi Everyone, and welcome to my post today which is a Mixed Media Canvas I have created using a photograph from our Wedding over 22 years ago.
With Valentines Day just around the corner I thought this was a good project to share, and it makes a lovely gift for that special someone.

I have used the Anna Griffin Pigment Powder (purple), White Acrylic Gesso, Gloss Texture Paste and Matte Texture Paste as the main focus of my techniques.  I also have a video in this post sharing my creative process - sped up and shortened as much as possible so as not to take up too much of your creative time.

I have used my Go, Press & Foil to colour the chipboard pieces, and then grunged them up with 3D Liquid Pearls, Glitzin Glamour and White Acrylic Gesso (with and without the Purple Pigment Powder).  I have used the same products on the flowers, photograph, canvas (edges) and die-cut leaves/swirls for a bit of grunge elegance too.

I used the Matte Texture Paste as an adhesive with a brush to attach the doilies on the background and with a palette knife in a trowel fashion to adhere all of the dimensional elements to the finished canvas.

The metal Butterfly has been coated with Embossing Powder after heating it until it was very hot, and then sprinkled with white glitter once the Embossing Powder was melted.

I have mixed the Pigment Powder (purple) with the White Acrylic Gesso to colour the background with several layers, the last of which I didn't mix thoroughly so that I could get some movement and shading into the background.  I have also used the Pigment Powder (purple) to colour the Gloss Texture Paste that I applied with a palette knife through the stencil for the main background focal point.

I added a touch of water to the White Acrylic Gesso left on the palette and then flicked it over the background before adding the embellishments.  I accidentally deleted this part of the video during the editing process and didn't realise until it was too late.

Please let me know if you have any questions about my Mixed Media Canvas or my creative process, and I hope you enjoy my video. [embed]https://youtu.be/iTDUqBImUUE[/embed]
